How many days do you wake up and legitimately have a chance to set a world record? Well today is your day! Actually it is that day for millions of people around the world who will be downloading Firefox version 3.0 in a Guinness world record attempt for most downloaded software in 24 hours.

So far 1.7 million have pledged to download it and I’ve got to believe there is at least that many slackers who are planning to but just haven’t pledged. I was pledge number 1,700,070 this morning.

Firefox has been my browser of choice since before I had my own computer. I was surprised to learn it only holds about 15% of the browser market with Internet Explorer still hanging on to most of it. The new version is supposed to include increased security, one-click bookmarking, and what has been dubbed the “Awesome Bar” by Beta testers.

Today is your day to set a Guinness World Record, I think you should go for it.
